CLUTCH
Check every 6000 km (3684 miles) (6 months).
- Remove speed sensor 1.
- Remove engine sprocket cover 2.
- Screw in adjuster 3 in clutch lever assembly.
- Loosen counternut 4 and loosen adjusting screw 5 completely.
- Loosen counternut 6 and rotate adjuster 7 to obtain a 5-10 degree play at the end of the throw-out lever.
- Tighten counternut 6.
- Slowly turn in adjusting screw 5 unil resistance is felt.
- From this position, turn out adjusting screw 5 ¼ of a turn and then tighten counternut 4.
- Screw adjuster 3 in or out to obtain 10-15 mm (0.394-0.591 in) of play A at the end of the clutch lever.
Clutch lever play: 10-15 mm (0.394-0.591 in)
Cooling circuit
Check every 1000 km (614 miles) (1 month).
renew the coolant every 2 years.
Checking the coolant level.
- REmove the saddle.
- Remove side panel 1 after removing the related fixing screw.
- Check that the level of the fluid in the expension tank is between the MIN. and MAX. notches. If not, remove cap 2 and top up.
RENEWING THE COOLANT
- For the V-Raptor version, remove the right-hand turn indicator holder (see chap. G).
- Remove radiator cap 1, the expansion tank cap (see page B-15) and drain plugs 2 and 3, and then drain the coolant.
- To avoid severe burns caused by the hot liquid or steam, do not open the radiator cap when the engine is hot.
- The coolant is harmful when swallowed or through contact with the eyes or skin. Should the liquid come into contact with the eyes or the skin, rinse generously with water. In case of ingestion, cause vomiting and immediatly seek medical attention.
- If necessary wash the radiator with water.
- Tighten coolant drain plugs 2 and 3 with the prescribed torque.
Tightening torque
Coolant drain plugs 2 and 3: 13 N-m (1,3 kg-m) (9.49 lb-ft) - Pour in coolant of the specified type through filler hole 5 up to the radiator neck.
- Expel the air through bleeder bolt 4.
Refer to chapter H for information on the engine coolant.
- Tighten the bleeder bolt with the specified torque.
Tightening torque
Air bleeder bolt 4: 13 N-m (1,3 kg-m) (9.49 lb-ft) - Start the engine and bleed the air completely from the radiator neck.
- Add coolant up to the radiator neck.
- Firmly close radiator cap 1.
- Firmly close the expansion tank cap.
- After warming up and then cooling down the engine, add coolant up to the upper level mark on the reservoir.
Repeat the above procedure several times and check that the radiator is filled with coolant up to the upper level mark on the reservoir.
Coolant capacity: 2000 ml (0.440 gal)
RADIATOR HOSES
Check if the radiator hoses are cracked, damaged or leaky.
If any defects are found, replace the radiator hoses with new ones.
