Idle speed and play of throttle cables

Idle speed
Check after the first 1000 km (614 miles) (1 month) and subsequently every 6000 km (3684 miles).
Perform the tuning up when the engine is hot.

  • Start the engine and tune up the idle speed to the prescribed range by rotating throttle setscrew 1.
    Engine idle speed:
    1300±1350 g/min (1300±1350rpm)

Play of throttle cables
Check after the first 1000 km (614 miles) (1 month) and subsequently every 6000 km (3684 miles) (6 months).
Adjust the play of the throttle cables in three consecutive phases:

  • Phase 1:
Loosen counternut 1 of throttle return cable B and fully turn adjuster 2.
  • Phase 2:
Loosen counternut 3 of throttle opening cable A.
Turn adjuster 4 in or out until the play of the throttle cable is 2,0-4,0 mm (0.079-0.157 in) on the throttle twist grip.
Tighten counternut 3 while holding adjuster 4
  • Phase 3:
Hold the throttle twist grip in fully closed position, slowly turn out adjuster 2 of throttle return cable B until resistance is felt.
Tighten counternut 1 while holding adjuster 2.
play of throttle cables: 2,0-4,0 mm (0.079-0.157 in)

After completing the adjustment, check that the idle speed is not increased by turning the handlebar, and that the throttle twist grip gently returns to it's home position automatically.

More important adjustments can be obtained through the side adjuster of the throttle valve body.

Timing the carburettors
Check every 12000 km (7368 miles) (12 months).
